How a Hand Works

Ante

Place your Ante bet. Optionally place the AA Bonus side bet.

Deal

You receive two hole cards. The dealer receives two hole cards (face down). Three community cards (the flop) are dealt face up.

Call or Fold

After seeing your hole cards and the flop, decide to Call (place a bet equal to 2× Ante) or Fold (lose your Ante).

Turn & River

If you called, the dealer reveals two more community cards (turn and river). Both you and the dealer make the best 5-card hand from 7 cards.

Showdown

Optimal Strategy Rules

Always call with any pair or better

Any paired hole cards or better (using hole cards + community cards to form a pair or above) — always call. The call EV is positive.

Always call with Ace-high or King-high

Holding an Ace or King against the board gives enough chance to beat the dealer's qualifying hand. Call with any Ace or King.

Call with flush or straight draws

Four to a flush or open-ended straight draw on the flop is enough equity to justify calling the 2× Ante bet.

Fold weak low-card hands with no draw

E.g. 2-7 with a disconnected board and no matching suit, no draw, no high card. These have negative EV — fold and save the Call bet.

Never fold a pair or better

Any hand that already contains a pair (even a low pair) should call. The pair alone gives you significant equity over the dealer.

Call with Queen-high or Jack-high on coordinated boards

If the community cards are high (J-K range) and your hole cards connect meaningfully (Q-high touching the board), calling is generally correct even without a made hand.

Avoid the AA Bonus side bet unless entertaining
