Betting Odds Converter

Convert between fractional, decimal, and American odds formats.

UK bookmakers traditionally use fractional odds (3/1, 5/2, evens), continental bookmakers use decimal odds (4.00, 3.50, 2.00), and US sportsbooks use American odds (+300, -150). All three formats express the same thing — the payout relative to your stake — but converting between them by hand is error-prone. This calculator handles the conversion instantly and shows the implied probability for each format.

Enter odds in any format and the calculator shows all three formats plus the implied probability (what the bookmaker thinks the true probability is, including their margin). The "overround" or "vig" is the percentage above 100% that all outcomes sum to — it represents the bookmaker's profit margin. Typical overrounds: Premier League match result 102–106%, NBA spread 104–107%, horse racing each-way 115–130%.

For matched betting specifically: this calculator is essential for finding qualifying bets and free bet conversions. Convert the bookmaker's odds to implied probability, calculate the lay stake at Betfair/Smarkets to lock in profit, then verify the expected value before placing. See our parlay calculator for multi-selection bets.

Odds Format Guide

Decimal (European) 2.50
Multiply by your stake to get total return. Decimal 2.5 × £10 stake = £25 back (£15 profit).
Fractional (UK) 3/2
For every £2 you bet, you win £3 profit. So 3/2 on a £10 bet = £15 profit, £25 total back.
American (Moneyline) +150 / -200
+150 means you win £150 on a £100 bet. -200 means you need to bet £200 to win £100 profit.
Implied Probability 40%
The probability the odds imply. 40% implied means the bookmaker thinks it will happen 40% of the time.
Hong Kong Odds 1.50
Shows profit per unit staked — identical to decimal minus 1. HK 1.50 equals decimal 2.50: you win 1.50 for every 1.00 wagered. Common on Asian betting exchanges.
Indonesian Odds +1.50 / -1.25
Similar to American odds but scaled to 1 unit. Positive shows profit on a 1-unit stake; negative shows the stake required to return 1 unit profit. Widely used on Indonesian sportsbooks.
Malay Odds 0.60 / -0.40
Ranges from -1 to +1. Positive values show profit on a 1-unit stake; negative values show what you must stake to win 1 unit. Prevalent in Southeast Asian markets.
